While tools can make such a job easier, a tool that does not work correctly could hurt you. In some cases, a problem with the tool itself could put you in danger of serious injuries or worse.

Black+Decker Chainsaw Recall

If you like to use Black+Decker or Craftsmen brand power tool, you should know about a recall of one of their chainsaws. Black+Decker manufactures certain tools under the Craftsman brand. The Craftsman CMECSP610 corded electric chainsaw can turn on even when you did not want it to. This can happen if you plug the extension cord in upside down. Chainsaws have sharp, toothed chains that work great at cutting wood. If a chain starts going unexpectedly, however, you could end up in harm’s way. Getting caught by a turning chain could lead to a minor injury, like a cut or something far more serious.

Reported injuries from recalled chainsaws

So far, the company has only been made known of one injury that resulted when a chainsaw turned on unexpectedly. The company has asked that anyone who owns the chainsaw to stop using it right away. Owners can contact Black+Decker for a repair kit that should fix the problem. Of course, if you have already suffered harm, a repair kit does not help much.

If a defect with a product, whether this chainsaw or something else, causes you to suffer serious injuries, the company that manufactured it could be held responsible. If so, you may be able to seek compensation for medical bills, lost wages, pain and suffering, and other harm. This type of case can be complicated.
